Nature lovers rejoice! There is a quiet little place in the Lakes Region where the New Hampshire wilderness meets English-style gardens—an oasis for those seeking solitude or inspiration, or companionship over a nice “cuppa.” Though a place like this conjures images of The Secret Garden, there is no locked gate here. At Tarbin Gardens, all are welcome to stroll at their leisure, rest on a quiet bench, or take a guided tour—and don’t forget the traditional English Cream Tea!
A wide variety of exotic and native flowers and trees at Tarbin Gardens have been growing since 1973, when the family who has been lovingly carving the five acres of gardens and ponds purchased the property in Franklin, NH. Over the years, the land has been transformed into multiple outdoor spaces with different styles and flavors. Tarbin Gardens is now a destination for nature lovers, bird and butterfly watchers, photographers and artists, and garden enthusiasts. Flowering trees, shrubs, and perennials fill the English-style gardens.
This summer, Tarbin Gardens is offering educational guided tours, with an emphasis on something new every week. Some of the upcoming tour topics include, Conifers and Evergreen Shrubs, A Woodland Walk, and Attracting Hummingbirds. Tours begin at 11am and last approximately one hour, but visitors are welcome to spend the day, as there is always something new to see in the ever-changing gardens!
Bring a picnic lunch or treat yourself to an authentic English Cream Tea served on the patio in the Rose Garden from 1pm – 5pm, June through September. Visitors who wish to enjoy tea after touring the gardens are encouraged to reserve a table upon arrival.
