Visitors to the Lakes Region of New Hampshire will have so many options for fun things to do this weekend, choosing the best activities may be a challenge! In addition to the top-notch water activities, hiking, theater, shopping, and dining in the area, the weekend is jam-packed with special events happening all around Lake Winnipesaukee. Here are a few we’ve uncovered…

Music In The Marketplace
Friday, August 9th, 5:30 – 8:30 pm
Local favorite Jeff Lines will be strumming his guitar in the Marketplace Courtyard at Mill Falls in Meredith tonight, weather permitting.

Street Dance & BBQ
Friday, August 9th, 6:00 pm
Come celebrate the Little Church Theater’s 10th season, with a street dance and BBQ featuring live music from The Uncle Steve Band. The BBQ is “pay as you eat,” and donations are welcome for the street dance, all taking place in Holderness. For more information, please visit or call 603-968-2250.

On The Green 2 Arts & Crafts Festival
August 9th – 11th, 10:00 am
This is a fabulous arts & crafts festival with over 100 exhibitors! The fair is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and admission is free. There will be demonstrations, live music, and great food! Some of the exhibits will include quilts and quilted items, handcrafted furniture, jewelry designs, metal art, florals, signs, birdhouses, gourmet foods, and photography. 37th Annual Alton Bay Boat Show
Saturday, August 10th, 9:00 am
The NH Boat Museum will present an informal, non-judged vintage boat show at the Alton Bay Town Docks. All “woodies” welcome – no advance registration necessary. 115th Annual Gilmanton Old Home Day
Saturday, August 10th, 10:00 am
Gilmanton’s long-running annual event features their famous homemade bean dinner, antique tractor and auto display, children’s games, animals, crafters, and more, on the Smith Meeting House grounds. 11th Annual Woods, Water, & Wildlife Festival
Saturday, August 10th, 10:00 am
This family-friendly celebration of the natural world features fun and educational outdoor activities at Branch Hill Farm in Milton Mills. Take a hayride to the river and look for wildlife living in its clear waters. Observe rescued wild NH animals, try fishing with your kids or let them explore a corn maze or a petting zoo, go on a guided walk with nature experts, watch demonstrations of traditional rural skills, take your child on a discovery walk in the woods, and much more! 10th Annual NASWA Reggae Fest Weekend

Ya mon, we be jammin’ at The NASWA in Laconia this weekend! The best drinks, the best music – the best weekend! 2013 will be our 10th celebration of everything reggae, so we’ve had lots of practice of making you feel like New Hampshire is actually a tropical island paradise. Let the live music and cool island drinks relax you into the perfect vacation! You’ll be transported to Jamaica, mon, where every little thing is gonna be alright! Chain Maille: Slinky Links Bracelet with Deb Fairchild
Sunday, August 11th, 12:30 – 3:30 pm
In this class at the League of NH Craftsmen Meredith Gallery, students will use a variation of the 4-in-1 chain maille pattern to form diamond links for a slinky, delicate bracelet. Tools will be provided for student use. Some chain maille experience is helpful but not required. Tuition is $30.00 per student, with an additional $15.00 materials fee to be paid to the instructor at the time of the class. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. or 603-279-7920.

Pure Harmony—The Paintings of Henry Wo Yue-Kee
Friday & Saturday, August 9th and 10th
The exhibit at the lakes gallery at chi-lin in Meredith runs from August 2nd to September 8th, and the public is invited to the opening to meet the artist on Saturday, August 10th, from 5 – 7 pm. On Friday and Saturday, Henry will lead a workshop—a hands-on introduction to the techniques & principles of Chinese watercolor painting.  It will be structured in the traditional manner, allowing students of all levels of brush painting expertise to develop new skills.
