The 34th Annual Lakes Region Fine Arts and Crafts Festival

Meredith1Next weekend, the quaint lakeside village of Meredith will come to life with live music, delicious food, and beautiful works of creativity as Main Street and the Mill Falls Marketplace are transformed into an outdoor art gallery featuring the works of over 80 local painters, sculptors, jewelers, potters, photographers, and quilters.

The Lakes Region Fine Arts and Crafts Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, August 24th and 25th amongst the Meredith Village Shops and the Mill Falls Marketplace. This annual event, organized by the Meredith Area Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Meredith Village Savings Bank, is an outdoor, juried exhibition and sale of fine arts and fine crafts.  Now in its 34th year, the festival has gained a solid reputation among New England artists and craftspeople, making it the largest quality arts and crafts event in the area. Visitors will be impressed with the wide variety of exhibits, including wildlife photography, metal and wood sculptures, stained glass, handmade jewelry, baskets, leather works, and abstract and traditional oil painting and watercolors.  All items in the show are original creations, and the artists will be available to meet with customers and talk about their craft. Meredith’s 18th Annual Community Yard Sale Next Weekend

Yard SaleFor treasure hunters of all kinds, Meredith will be the place to be next Saturday. The whole village is coming together to hold their Annual Community Yard Sale, and antique enthusiasts, collectors, and bargain hunters from all over New England will be setting their destinations for this little lakeside village.

Sponsored by the Meredith Area Chamber of Commerce, the 18th Annual Community Yard Sale will take place on Saturday, May 18th from 9 am – 3 pm at over fifty locations in the Meredith area. According to Susan Cerutti, Executive Director of the Chamber, the event has become a fun tradition for folks in the Lakes Region of NH. Continue reading

Meredith “Trick or Eat” Happening This Sunday!

Now here’s a twist on trick-or treating that has plenty of treats for grown-ups (and kids too)—live music, a historical walking tour, and samples of specialties from local restaurants, all in one event! It’s the very first Meredith Trick or Eat, the signature “fun”raiser to benefit some great community organizations in the Lakes Region.

Meredith Trick or Eat will take place this Sunday, October 28th from 2 – 5 pm in beautiful Meredith Village. The event is a collaboration between Better Together, the Meredith Pathway Committee, the Greater Meredith Program, and several local businesses. Members of the Meredith Village Pathways Committee will be dressed in period attire as they lead groups on a walking tour of Meredith and relate historical tidbits about the village at various stops along the way. This weekend, Meredith Village will come to life with live music, delicious food, and beautiful works of creativity as Main Street and the Mill Falls Marketplace are transformed into an outdoor art gallery featuring the works of over 70 local painters, sculptors, jewelers, potters, photographers, and quilters.

The Lakes Region Fine Arts and Crafts Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, August 27th and 28th amongst the Meredith Village Shops and the Mill Falls Marketplace.  This annual event, organized by the Meredith Area Chamber of Commerce, is an outdoor, juried exhibition and sale of fine arts and fine crafts.  Now in its 32nd year, the festival has gained a solid reputation among New England artists and craftspeople, making it the largest quality arts and crafts event in the area.  Visitors will enjoy a wide variety of exhibits, including wildlife photography, metal and wood sculptures, stained glass, handmade jewelry, baskets, leather works, and abstract and traditional oil painting and watercolors.  All items in the show are original creations, and the artists will be available to meet with customers and talk about their craft.

Throughout the entire weekend, art lovers can enjoy live music as they browse the many booths.  Marc Elbaum and Christine Chaisson will play jazz, classic rock, and great American songs from the 50s, 60s, and 70s on both Saturday and Sunday.  At 10am on Saturday, Mr. Phil, also known as Phil the Clown, will entertain folks of all ages with his unique blend of comedy, magic, and balloon tricks.  Phil and Janet Sanguedolce, who play classic folk and rock, will also be performing on Saturday.  On Sunday, Matt Smart will play modern blues and southern rock, and Jeremy and Amy Mathison will fill the air with their style of modern acoustic music.

Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic for this special event, but shuttle bus service will be available and will run continuously both days.  On the north end of town, there will be plenty of parking at Prescott Park, as well as at Belknap Family Health Center on Rt. 3 at the south end of town.  The shuttle will pick up passengers every 15 minutes and deliver them right to the festival!  The shuttle service and admission to the event is free.  For more detailed information, contact the Meredith Area Chamber of Commerce at 603-279-6121.

Don’t Miss the 15th Annual Festival of Trees in Center Harbor!

2010 closeup with many treesIn celebration of the holiday season, the Altrusa Club of Meredith will be hosting their 15th Annual Lakes Region Festival of Trees this weekend.  This spectacular festival will be held at the Waukewan Golf Club in Center Harbor, NH, and will highlight beautifully decorated trees, fine products made by local artisans, traditional cookies and cider, and a special children’s event, all while benefitting local charities and community projects!

The Festival kicks off on Thursday evening, December 2nd, with the Silent Auction and Gala from 5:30 – 8:00pm.  The night will be filled with music, hors d’oeuvres, and delicious desserts!  Lakes Region favorite Pat Kelly will take on the role of Master of Ceremonies for the auction, where guests can bid on the many wonderful items donated by area businesses.  Also on hand will be Karel Hayes, a local author and illustrator who will be signing her books at The Noel Shoppe.  Tickets for the silent auction and gala have already sold out, so the night should be a terrific success!

The Festival of Trees continues throughout the weekend—on Friday the 3rd from 2pm – 8pm, Saturday the 4th from 9am – 5pm, and Sunday the 5th from 11am – 5pm.  Visitors can stroll amongst magnificent holiday trees, which have been contributed and decorated by area businesses, nonprofit organizations, individuals, and families, while enjoying apple cider and fresh cookies.  The Noel Shoppe will be stocked with a variety of handmade items and gifts, from traditional to whimsical, created by local artisans and craftspeople.  This is a wonderful opportunity to support artists and the community at the same time!  Tickets will be available all weekend for the ‘Tis the Season Raffle, where folks can take their chances on several fabulous baskets and one of the stunning “enchanted” trees.

Bring the little ones on Friday, December 3rd for a new children’s event, the reading of in “A Wish to be a Christmas Tree” by Colleen Monroe.  This story is a magical tale of an evergreen tree that wishes to be a beautiful Christmas tree.  Children ages 3 – 8 are encouraged to come in their pajamas, and are invited to bring their favorite adults to visit the enchanted Woodland Cabin for story time.  Pre-registration for either the 5:00pm or 7:00pm reading is suggested, as space is limited.  For more information, please call 387-4380.

Admission to the Festival is $3.00, and free for children 5 and under.  The Altrusa Club of Meredith works under the umbrella of Altrusa International, Inc., an “international association of business executives and professionals who volunteer their energies and expertise in projects dedicated to community betterment.”  The Altrusa Club of Meredith, Leaders in Service, is grateful for the past support from the Lakes Region community.  All proceeds from the Festival benefit the Inter-Lakes Christmas Fund, the Moultonborough Santa Fund, area food pantries, and other Altrusa initiatives.  Last year’s event raised over $8,000 – the most ever!  Altrusa distributes all donated trees through area Christmas funds and other outreach organizations following the Festival.

2010 Lakes Region Fine Arts and Crafts Festival Starts Tomorrow!

artsfestWow!  Another year has gone by already and it’s time for the Annual Lakes Region Fine Arts and Crafts Festival.  This weekend, August 28th and 29th, come to Meredith, NH to enjoy beautiful original works of art and crafts, live music, and delicious food… this is an event you won’t want to miss!

Now in its 31st year, The Lakes Region Fine Arts and Crafts Festival is sponsored by the Meredith Area Chamber of Commerce and is the area’s largest show and sale of fine arts and crafts.  This popular event is an outdoor, juried arts and crafts exhibition, featuring the high-quality works of over 110 artists and craftspeople.  Main Street in Meredith will be closed to traffic to make room for the show, which will be held among the Meredith Village Shops and the Mill Falls Marketplace.quilt

This festival is always a great place to find treasures for yourself, or gifts for loved ones.  All of the exhibitors display and sell their own work, so you know you are supporting local artisans, and enjoying unique pieces.  Hope to see you there!

15th Annual Community Yard Sale in Meredith This Weekend

10For treasure hunters of all kinds, Meredith will be the place to be on Saturday, May 22nd.  The whole village is coming together to hold their Annual Community Yard Sale, with proceeds from some of the sales to benefit local organizations.

The Meredith Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the event and will be providing maps that mark the locations of over 70 individual sales throughout the town.  In addition to the many yard sales at private homes, several businesses and organizations will also hold sales.  The Center Harbor Congregational Church and the Trinity Episcopal Church are both organizing group sales, and at the Community Center, The I-L Senior Center is teaming up with the Meredith Lions Club to host a variety of activities.  Other organizations, such as the Meredith Kiwanis Club and the NH Humane Society, will also be setting up shop, so to speak.

The whole town is getting in on the action!  Many local businesses are planning to hold special sales, and The Meredith Public Library will once again have several books available for purchase.  Enthusiasts will not want to miss the group sale at the Winnipesaukee Beach Colony Club.

The Community Yard Sale will take place on Saturday from 9:00am – 3:00pm, rain or shine.  Maps will be available from the Chamber of Commerce Information Center beginning at 8:00am the day of the sale.  Signs will also be posted at the individual locations to make finding the treasures a little easier.
